Learn, three of five
The ceiling on your payout is not the bookmaker’s
Everything else on this site is about how much of a bonus survives its turnover. This page is about the step after that, and it is the step where people are actually surprised: the wallet the money lands in has a limit of its own, set by the Bank of Ghana, and no bookmaker can lift it.
The bands
The wallet has a ceiling and the bookmaker does not set it. Three bands, each with a daily figure, a monthly figure and a maximum balance, and it is the monthly figure at the bottom band that ends most attempts at a large withdrawal. The two upper bands carry no monthly limit at all, which is why an upgrade is the only real answer to it.
| Band | A day | A month | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum KYC | GH₵3,000 | GH₵10,000 | GH₵5,000 |
| Medium KYC | GH₵15,000 | no limit | GH₵40,000 |
| Enhanced KYC | GH₵25,000 | no limit | GH₵75,000 |
Effective 2024-03-01. An earlier and lower set of figures is still quoted in places, so a source describing different numbers is describing the previous regime rather than this one.
Held against a real bonus
The largest priceable welcome offer in this market leaves GH₵4,095 after its turnover. That clears Medium KYC in a single day, so for an ordinary bonus win the bands are not the problem.
They become the problem on a genuine win. Several of these bookmakers publish a maximum payout per bet in the hundreds of thousands or the millions of cedis, which is a figure with no relationship at all to what a minimum KYC wallet may receive in a month. If you are ever paid one of those, the wallet is where it stops.
The route around it is the bank rail. It is the one route the wallet bands do not touch, at least one book publishes a higher per-transaction ceiling on it than on mobile money, and two require the account name to match the betting account. It is also slower than mobile money everywhere both are published, so it is worth setting up before you need it.
What else takes a slice
The transfer levy is gone. It was cut at the start of 2023 and repealed outright on 2 April 2025, and collectors were told to stop deducting the same day. Nothing is taken off a mobile money transfer by the state now.
Tax on the winnings is gone too, and only recently. A 10 per cent withholding on gross winnings ran from 2023 until it was repealed on 2 April 2025. Both halves of that, in the right order.
One operator charges. betPawa publishes a percentage fee on withdrawals with deposits free, which is the only published operator withdrawal fee in this market. The rest of the cashier facts.
Getting paid, asked plainly
- Can I just withdraw a big win over several days?
- Not past the monthly ceiling. At minimum KYC the daily figure is GH₵3,000 and the monthly one is GH₵10,000, so consecutive days run into the month before they run into anything else. Only an upgrade removes it, because the higher bands carry no monthly limit at all.
- Does the bookmaker decide this?
- No. The bands are the Bank of Ghana’s and they apply to the wallet rather than to the betting account. A bookmaker can be perfectly willing to pay an amount your wallet is not permitted to receive.
- What is the route for a payout larger than the top band?
- A bank transfer. It is the one rail the wallet bands do not cap, it is slower than mobile money everywhere both are published, and at least two books require the bank account name to match the betting account.
